This show features 10 of my works, a collection which was inspired by native Australian flora.

It is from the mountains, the endless fields of vibrant wildflowers, dense forests, turquoise bays, pristine waterways and hidden valleys, I have drawn the inspiration to create this collection of abstract works, focusing primarily on the native Australian plants, trees and flowers residing therein.

I am interested in the bold shapes, the lustrous colours and glorious textures of the charming, unusual and often overlooked flora dotted across the Australian landscape, as well as examining the connection and interaction between society and the natural world. There is a sense of escapism associated with the wilderness, as if such a space provides an opportunity to relinquish the stress, responsibility and demands of the everyday. This series of work weaves a visual narrative that celebrates, honours and values the influence and impact the natural world has on everyday life.

floe is a series of abstract works that explore the need for reconnection to the wild in a technology driven and dependant age. This series examines the dynamic relationship between modern society and the natural world and seeks to understand, nurture and celebrate the value of both the tamed and untamed landscape.

forma is a series of works on paper that seek to capture the essence of the Tasmanian wilderness through abstract form. Inspired by and created during many trips into the forests and around the coastlines of Tasmania, each piece in this series bears the texture and shape of sea, land, sky or mountain.

Works convey the energy and pull of the natural environment, whilst remaining aware of the everyday responsibilities of urban life.
